That could be a good deal if the quill is tight in the housing. If the spindle is loose in the quill, and its ball bearings, that's an easy fix. a bit harder if it is bronze bushings.

I would go take a look at that. If it works and has everything there, it's a pretty fair price. I have the floor model of that same DP.

I think I paid $150 for my mine, which is also a floor model, but was in very good condition and has the original Delta motor and (apparently much sought-after) worklight. I looked up the serial number, and mine is from the late 1940's.

BTW, I believe there was originally a cover over the belts. You can see the holes where it attached in the front housing. Might be able to talk him down a little, but I agree $90 is a fair price if it's in good condition.

Next question for ya is how do i figure out the year this thing was made? Just looking for some more information on it in general the serial number is 68-517 and it has DP220 stamped on the side. The good news is Delta made millions of them and most hard parts are pretty common. The bad news is the one part most of them need is not. The quill and spindle bearings are NLA. There are some over on the OWWM site who have made adaptations which work fine.

Hey guys more questions for ya about this drill press i bought. I want to replace the motor on it. My problem is that i do not no what the correct size is. The motor it has on it is an old blower motor from a furnace I think. So what i'm looking for is a NEMA frame size and Hp. It doesn't matter to me if its as old as the press itself I just wanna get it working good. Also i plan on giving it a paint job anyone no If i can get the right color from a spray can?

Thanks

The CL posting was deleted so we no longer know what drill you are talking about.

What size chuck are we talking about here?

Just checked mine, also the original Delta motor

1/3 hp
1725 rpm
frame size 145

Not sure how much of a difference between 145 and 165, but maybe the motors differed slightly by year.

I also noticed that the motor can be wired for 120 or 240. Didn't notice that before.
