My shop table top drill press is a delta milwaukee home craft.the side tag says Rockwell delta power tool division rockwell m f g.milwaukee Wisconsin.the motor plate reads delta wisconsin model 62-413 hp 1/3. 115v. 1725rpm 60c y. Type c s frame 56 y relay code j-52. It came from a factory years ago and i used it and it worked fine then.i had put it away and not used for several years. I recently built a new shop and brought it back out cleaned all the dust off plugged it in and the motor just hummed.so i tried spinning the chuck by hand and the motor will take off. If it runs awhile it will take off easier with help.but if it set its harder to get started.since then I've had the press apart to paint had the motor off spun the motor with belts off bearings are smooth.checked belt alignment for binding.is this just a worn out motor or maybe a bad capacitor? The drill press is in excellent shape and very well made so iwant to make it operate correctly.i have used it several times and it drills fine once the motor is started.thanks for your input in advance!

Could also be the starter switch, especially if second starts after it's loosened up are easier.

Electrical supplier should be able to find an appropriate replace from the old cap and/or the motor faceplate info.

sounds like start cap. test for continuity if none it’s shot. You can order those quite easily off amazon or many places, any electrical motor shop will have something similiar. What matters is the size and the mfd or uf, you should have an mfd number on there (i just replaced a sprague ).

Now when you replace the start cap, if it blows (be prepared but will just be loud pop and smoke) the switch (whatever the type) that cuts off the start capacitor after the motor is started is bad.

So first place check the start cap for continuity.
