I have a 1959 model 28-380 wood/metal bandsaw I'm restoring. I'm ready to put the lower wheel shaft in but I'm running into a problem. On one side is a snap ring type bearing and on the wheel side is a normal friction type bearing. The problem is, you have to "drive/push" the main shaft through a big gear inside and then through the bearing on the wheel side. When you do this you knock out that bearing. If try driving the bearing in from the wheel side it knocks the shaft back out and out of the gear. I had it together finally..until I discovered I had broke one of the new roll pins I had put in from hitting too hard on one side! No problem there. Easy fix. Before I try again I wanted to see if anyone knew a better way. I remember seeing one but can't find it now. Thanks
