I just picked up this steel bench that was manufactured by Delta Rockwell, and was hoping somebody here may recognize it. It came with a vise mounted to it where the base of what I am assuming a lathe would have gone. I've looked online, but haven't been able to find anything that quite matches this. Did a wood lathe sit on this bench, or a metal lathe? Or maybe something else? Please let me know if you recognize it. Thanks.

I don't think it's for a wood lathe, maybe a metal lathe. It'll be interesting to hear from someone who actually recognizes it. You can post it over at OWWM under the Old MetalWorking Machines section and they'll be lots of folks who will know what it is, what was on it and probably have two or three of them in their shop or stash. Probably have the same thing happen here.

It's a nice table. Great find!

I'd say it's for a metal lathe. I had a rockwell wood lath on a cabinet and the cabinet was a lot skinnier than the one you show. Also it didn't have shelves behind the door - that space was for mounting the motor and running the belt from the lathe to the motor.

And when I looked at the first picture, I assumed as much, but clearly, there is no hole in the drip pan for the belt to pass through, so the cabinet was always meant for just storage.
