I recently acquired a delta Rockwell dp600 serial number 105-XXXX, the dp is extremely clean. It has the old style production table with no slots. At some point someone put a baldor 1-1/2 horse 220/110 motor on it. The only thing that concerns me is that there is a slight wobble on the spindle pulley(slow speed pulley). I could not indicate it before I bought it, but visually the chuck has very little runout, and I put a drill bit in it and again it looked to run true. Im hoping its just the spindle bearing, but I haven't taken it apart yet. If anyone with experience with these deltas can give me a few pointers I would greatly appreciate it, this is my first drill press. I paid $290, I think I did ok.

The pulleys used were all cast pot metal. While they were suitable for the application, by no means are they precision machined cast iron. I would not be concerned and just ensure the pulley set screws are tight.

My DP-600 is circa 1944, and the spindle pulley does not wobble at all. Keep in mind that it is supported by lower AND upper bearings, so it should run true.

Do you hear any bearing noise? Does it look like it has been damaged. Sometimes an operator tries to force a belt change and gets aggressive with a hammer or prybar, and it may have bent or cracked. BTW, my pulleys may be pot metal but they look to be machined and balanced.

$290 was a very fair price for a single phase machine in great shape like yours. You did well.

When I purchased it I tried to shake the pulley and couldn't, so I think it might be one of the bearings. I noticed on top of the pulley what looked like a brass washer or bearing and I think its not the correct part. Ill take more pictures when I get a chance. Also, I saw a Bearing Cap DP-609 With Screws on ebay for $13.00. I wonder if I should pick it up just in case. Thanks for the quick responses and advice.

Also the only noises I heard were the humming of the motor, rattling from the belt cover and a loose mount on the on/off switch, but like I said this is my first drill press and I could be missing some subtle noises. The pulley didn't seem damaged, but I will look it over more thoroughly. There were quite a few holes drilled on the bottom for balancing.

I bought a rockwell 15-017 new back in the 70's and the 1st thing I did was order the slow speed set because I worked mostly with metal. The new pulley/belt they sent me (cast pot metal) wobbled as soon as I put it on. It's been there ever since and never have had any problems with it.

I've decided to replace the bearings if possible. The top pulley bearing is setting crooked in the car arm and I think that's why it's wobbling. Did anyone know the best place to get bearings for this press, I know they are kind of hard to find.
