I recently purchased a 1950's Delta jointer and a 1973 Rockwell drill press. I wanted to clean both of them up and re-paint them. The drill press is currently blue and the jointer is still kind of grey. I was wondering which colors some of you guys used to restore your machines. It doesn't have to be a spot on match to the original but I would like it to be close. I am aware that you can buy some paint direct from Delta but I would prefer to drive over to the local hardware store and grab a few cans. Thanks for the help, Mike

Go to www.owwm.org join up & there are formulas over there for matching machines, BTW it's a very civil forum & quite helpful, most are Sherwin-Williams color matches, but some folks have used "off the shelf" rattle cans.

From what I've heard from the vintage Delta guys is that Delta was all over the place with the grays throughout the years so there is no specific 'Delta' color, at least not like that 1930s-1940s 'Craftsman' navy blue.

OWWM would be a great place to ask others what they used, but I have a feeling you won't have to go too far to be period correct.
