At one time believe it or not delta was the most copied machine tools in the world, well that is what a lot of older men used to tell me. I am not sure of that story but for some reason it sounds like it could be true.
At least the chinese must have loved them because many years ago that is all you could see in many garages.

Again I can never get smart out of big business take Delta and powermatic both two fantastic companies great sales both big leaders in the field and then they sell out for more money.

Glad to see some industry coming back to SC. We lost a lot in the last 10 years

Lets hope against hope for positive changes and improved products! :) Delta seemed to be a premium industrial/professional brand and then they brought out cheap lower end consumer products that didn't seem like good quality; hopefully good changes in the near future! A trend towards "Made in the USA" hopefully is a good thing! (fingers crossed!) :)

Lets hope this "Back Shoring" trend continues! :)

Delta hasn't released an official statement yet. When I asked for confirmation or details, I was more or less told that they cannot comment at this time.

It looks like they weren't expecting the South Carolina county to break the news in this manner.

Nuts! I really like Delta machines, I own several.

From the Popular Woodworking article...

"Bryan Whiffen said in a phone interview that they will move the current Delta and Biesemeyer production lines from their current home in Jackson, Tenn., to their new home in South Carolina.

"Having the Unisaw made in the U.S. was a key point with our retailers," said Whiffen, noting that he had spent seven hours talking to dealers to discuss the sale. "And it's important to us. As far as I know it is the only cabinet saw made in the U.S.A. and it is a very nice saw."

The Delta facility in Jackson is mostly an assembly plant, with the company bringing in components from mostly U.S. suppliers, such as Marathon for the motor. The Unisaw currently is made from about 80 percent domestic parts. In addition to assembly, the Jackson plant also powder coated the saw's base and did some heat-treating and milling."
