Demolish staircase

How can I safely go about demo-ing this staircase? I'm getting a new basement slab poured and I plan to rebuild this into a safer structure.

Do I pry out the treads and risers from the top and work my way down?

Floor above is 99" of the basement floor. I'll keep a 8' step ladder down there to climb out when I'm done.

Looks like the first deck is headed off.

Remove stair from basement slab, side wall where likely nailed, and pry off where first deck is headed off.

First floor ~8ft above the basement floor means you should be using a 12+ ft ladder.

Ladder is supposed to extend a MINIMUM of 3 ft above where you are climbing to to allow for gripping the rails and stepping out onto where you are going.

Yeah... I would use a 16 foot (2-8 ft. Sections) extension ladder for that situation.

Since you say you will leave a ladder to get out I am thinking there is no other way out. How is the concrete crew going to get out? You might want to tie the staircase to the upper floor a couple feet from the bottom and then remove just the bottom 2 steps. Or make a vertical ladder hung from the top with angle braces to the bottom.

If you want to just remove it all that should be easy enough. Cut the side stringer and just start pulling things apart. Sawzall with bimetal blade.

Do you want to reuse the stairs? I took out a very similar staircase, cut a new hole in the first floor and moved it to the other side of the house. I just pryed an opening in the joists with wedges so I could get a sawsall blade in to cut the nails.

If you don't want to save it, just cut it in the middle and keep cutting and beating it into pieces
