Floor co gurus. I will be having a floor poured within the month. Smooth power trowel finish. I would like to put a sealer on it to keep oil staining to a minimum. What's out there that will cover 1000sqft? Time from pour to application? Coats, etc...
Thanks:rocker:

Chemasters Polyseal EZ

A friend just had his slab poured and they put this on very soon after. Supposedly, it slows the cure which strengthens the slab and seals against stains, etc. I'm interested, but also wondering if this would be a bad idea if I wanted to use Epoxy later on.

Great point. We recently had a customer call in that had treated his concrete with a penetrating sealer that disqualified him for epoxy. Some of these products (some of which have been touted strongly on this forum) can ruin your floor for future coatings, FOREVER!!

So be careful what you wish for.

Thanks for that information. I'm still undecided as to what I'll treat my soon to be poured floor with. Too many choices!

I had the same product put on my slab right after they powertrowled it. I wish I hadn't, it was spayed on unevenly and left darker areas even after 18 months. I went back and forth in my head and reading everything I could. I wasn't going to grind a 36x40 slab. I called the polyseal ez co. And talked to an engineer. I had two options recoat with polyseal ez or truck bedliner. I ended up resealing with the polyseal EZ, put on with a roller and used mostly all of the 5 gallon pail. It's very potent stuff, need respiratory and will take all of a week for odor to calm down to tolerable. Can be walked on in about 12 hrs. The first coat put down didn't seal against stains, but I'm pretty sure it is now with the recoat I did. I should have recoated soon after the first coat but I was thinking other products till I found out I couldn't just go over it.

I was leaning towards that, how will the burnishing go in cool New England fall weather?

I just burnished my HD40 here in New Hampshire last weekend. No prob.

If your floor is poured within stem walls, see if they can be sure to smooth the areas closer to the wall. Neither the microfiber applicator nor the burnisher worked well for me near the wall since it was not power troweled as well....
