Dental Compressor for Air Tools??

Looking at some specifications they seem to put out a lot of air, would it be possible to run air tools off of this? Reason for asking is that it is 110V and I probably can't get 220V in the garage.

Just buy a small 110v compressor. Crappy Tire has all kinds, cheaper to.

The pump is made by Gast. It's a high quality unit. It is an oiless, direct drive, so it's probably kinda noisy. I believe that the Gast pumps are rated for 100% duty cycle. Most of their piston compressors are intended to be run at no more than 100 psi. I would not pay anywhere the price that the seller is asking.

For low CFM dental tools yes for anything that requires lots of CFM no. Would make for a good compressor for air brush and air eraser with a small storage tank.

We sell dental compressors and most dentist do not get rid of them till they are dead.
This unit looks well used when you look at the case.
Probably needs a complete rebuild.
and the noise!
If you use it without hearing protection you will need hearing aids
and your neighbors is hate you.
If you run it for any lenght of time the head will be hot hot hot.
This unit is made to run one operatory.
Most dental handpieces will run around 7cfm max.
This unit will not put out the cfm that it did when new.
Also the Dr dosn't run the handpiece for extended times.
You will not be happy with this unless your blowing up tires.
The only dental air compressor I would look at would have a copland head on it.

I don't think that's a dental compressor. More likely an "industrial application" unit. Gast pumps are great units for low CFM applications, but not for automotive grade air tools.

this is a dental compressor the Dr use them for remote locations and for when they go on thier missions in 3rd world countrys.

I think we have differing opinions on "lot of air".

Dentists do not maintain or overhaul air compressors. This unit will be tired. They're expensive for the air produced ( As a rule, you pay extra for "aviation", "medical", or "marine".)

It is easy to wire for 220 volt. Take a good look for any 1800 RPM motor which drives the air pump with a belt. That alone will weed out the crappy models.
