I have wanted a set of dimple dies for a long time but just didn't think I would use them enough to justify the cost. The company I work for does a lot of CNC work for the DOD so I figured why not talk to the boss and see if he would let me get some machine time. I didn't personally make them, unfortunately I just don't have the knowledge, but I did design them. After 5 months of waiting my turn in line I finally got them. They are 4140 and I had them hardened. I designed them around an 1/8" capacity but wanted to really test them out so I tried it on a piece of 3/16" and they worked pretty well. It was a pretty fun exercise and now I have a solid tool to add to my arsenal.
This picture shows the results of a 1/2" die in 3/16, 1/8, 16ga, and 22ga. Mostly I will use them in thin sheet metal but occasionally I may use them in a off road bumper or something so the thicker capacity will be handy.
This is each size I made, all in 16ga
Thanks for looking
