Designed use?

I know ive seen these around, and can think of at least a handfull of uses, but can anyone tell me the specific designed use for these? Brass ring is apprx 1 7/8 ID and tightens slightly as you screw the handle in. Solid steel handle, and ring is thick material, so its a pretty beefy tool.

Except for being brass, looks like it could function the side handle for one of my 1/2 drills. Maybe someone custom made it for a similar project?

First thing that popped intoy mind was either the clamp on drill handle, or to hold a pipe while threading or spinning into fittings, but 1 7/8 size limits it. After i got 1 of them at a farm sale, thought it might be custom, but i e come across 3 of them now, so i think they have a specific maker. No stamping or maker names kinda hints to me that they might be ab included part or accessory maybe?

Other thought is foot pegs for a motorcycle. Does one side show more wear than the other? Brass to not thrash the bikes frame? Is 1-7/8 too big for a bike frame?

It's a handle for a 1/2" drill, I have one just like it, But I can't remember the brand.

I have one from my dad exactly,% like yours. It was rusted bad from hurricane Sandy but got it all cleaned up in evaporust! I've wondered what it was for a while. He did have a Harley and he also had many drills so who knows what its really for. I also wandered if it happened to be anything for Bell System? He and my grandfather worked for Bell too.
