I sure consider it "vintage". Desmond Stephan made excellent machinists vises like this one, in addition to its more common homeowner-grade vises.

The company was sold to Ridge tool company in the late 50's or early 60's, that later became the Ridgid brand. They continued to use the "Simplex" brand name for some years after that.

A very under-appreciated vise, IMO.

Yep, that sure is a vintage vise. They are excellent vises as far as quality goes. Given the shape and lettering, I would guess 1940s.

Did you know that "bad boy" vise was made in Urbana, "Ahia" !

I have that same vise very well made and it is vintage good job posting it.
