Finally, after months of planning we were able to start our garage about a 2 weeks ago. It has been delayed with the rain we've been having, but this week looks to be warm and productive. Plan to also rebuild a shed that I had taken down over the winter in the backyard, shed had a large floor section rotted through and holes in the roof.

The Garage

26x24 2-car with a detached 12x20 space/shop. The 12x20 space will become our garage gym. Roughly based off the below plan, only real differences are +2ft on 2-car section and 10.5ft walls.

Here is where we are now,

Nice, I enjoy working out just as much as I do wrenching on stuff - I am jealous you will be able to do both under one roof!

Both my wife and I do, our previous 2-car garage turned into a 1-car with the gym on the other side. So the opportunity arose when we moved to a smaller home with no garage to gain that car space in the garage back building a new garage.

wow, solid brick?

I like the "character" that it has... will be nice

Just the bottom 1ft or so(from grade) is brick to match the house, rest will be vinyl. There are a few cinder blocks on the far corner but that is all. I'll be excited to finally stop paying for storage.

Finally didnt rain long enough for the lake to drain from the foundation and get passed. Ended up deciding to lower the ceiling height in the main garage down to level the eaves with the home. Originally the 10.5" ceiling would have been 1-1.5ft above the home, with the garage 5 ft away we didnt think this would look right. In doing this the shop/gym side of the garage will have scissor trusses to get the height we want.

Still no slab in, but we have 2 walls up. Looks like maybe the remainder will be done today and sheathing started. Have to get some pictures, starting to take shape! Slab and trusses next week!!!

haha, i dont get notifications from here but everything is done. Working on getting some time to build some work benches, got the gym all setup and in, cars in the garage finally and the rest of the stuff. Picked up a 180SD to fool around. I'll see if i can get some pictures of it finished in the next couple day, anything particular you were looking for?
