Hey all, been lurking here for a long time and finally have a question that I can't find the answer to.
I'm planning on pouring a concrete slab that's 15x18' with turn down footings 12"x12" along the perimeter and 6" thick on the inside.
All the diagrams I see show the subbase only under the main area/interior of the slab. Do I only backfill the 6" thick area with gravel and compact or do I backfill the whole area with gravel and compact?
If I'm only backfilling the inner area with gravel, how do you guys keep the gravel away from the footing area? Build a temporary form to contain the gravel until compacting is done? backfill a little, compact, backfill some more, compact, repeat?
Any info would be nice, or if I'm missing any necessary information, let me know. Thanks!
