detached single car, looking for suggestions

"asking for a friend" :)

He just bought a house and it has a single car detached garage--it's really small, maybe 11'W by 18'L. Currently has no power out there.

It's going to be a workshop only, no vehicle...

Thinking about his power needs, we were considering 5 circuits--
#1, 15A/120 for lighting
(4) T-12 bulbs (~400W total), plus a double flood (~200W) = 5A ... 600VA ... plenty of room here for expansion or adding an outlet dedicated to low draw stuff like a radio or whatnot.

#2, 20A/120 dedicated for compressor
Plate says 15A@120V ... 1800VA

#3 & #4, (2) 20A/120 general purpose
Intended for things like a bench drill press, sander, shop-vac, etc... nothing else he has now requires more than a 15A circuit, and he doesn't use more then one power tool at a time (the exception being the shop-vac (12A@120 = 1440VA) which he runs as a dust collector) ... so real-world we imagine these GP outlets will see a max of ~3200VA when the table saw is not running, and ~1440VA max (for shop-vac) when the table saw is running

#5, 30A/220 dedicated for table saw
Table saw plate is 20A@220V, we thought a 30A circuit might make sense to help future proof a bit or in case he picks up something, like a welder, that needs a little more juice ... 4400VA for the current saw

In our estimation this is the average worst case draw situation:
Lights + Compressor + Shop Vac + Table Saw which is 600 + 1800 + 1440 + 4400 = 8240VA

We are thinking of putting a 60A sub-panel, which if I understand correctly is 13200VA, meaning we should be hitting about 60-65% of its capacity in our average worst case situation... and even if a full 15A@120V extra was tossed in there, we'd still be under 80% of the 60A panel rating.

His house service and main breaker is 100A, I was a little worried about that except that I see that all his appliances are natural gas--gas stove/oven, furnace, water heater, clothes dryer... has no central a/c. So even if his shop were pulling ~40A during the average worst case that should leave a pretty reasonable safe margin for the house's main.

Does this all make sense, or am I way off? :shocking: ... thx :beer:
