Don't want to start a new thread each time I buy a tool, so I thought I would make a continuously updated thread about my tool purchases and occasional reviews.

I also have a uber expensive digital magnifier, so I can take some pretty interesting closeups.

-----------------------------

Masterforce 6pc Screwdriver Set.

COO: USA.
Price: $12.99 (Non Sale/ Regular Price)
Warranty: Lifetime.
Can you buy individuals?: Yes, but costs 2x as much as a set.

What I like:

- These are USA made and not very expensive.
- Clear acetate handles (I have always loved clear handles for some odd reason).
- No "puke smell" like Craftsman Clear Screwdrivers.

What I don't like:

-The shinny finish screams cheap Chinese big box brand.
-The numbering is out of order (just cosmetic, so I could care less).

I think these are a good buy for the money.

Value: 9/10
Durability: 8/10

Crescent 10pc Metric Wrench Set.

I can't take a good photo of these, so here you go.
4445847.jpg

COO: Taiwan
Price: $19.99
Warranty: Lifetime.
Can you be individuals?: Yes.

What I like:

-VERY nice holder. You can swing them around and they won't fly out.
-Very nice nickel chrome plated surface.
- Very ergonomic, feels "right" to hold one.
- Size is stamped on both sides, in large numbers, to aid in identification.

What I don't like.

- So far...nothing.

DURABILITY TEST.

I used these on 4 car related projects so far. No issues.

I took the smallest wrench (8mm) and tried to bend it with all my strength, it won't flex at all.

Value: 8/10
Durability: 9/10

Possibly a rare proto wrench?

So I finally start going through my yard sale finds of last fall..

Nothing looks special about this wrench. It's 7/8 on one box end, and 1" on the other.

But look at the model number: 112832.

Now go type that in to google.

Zero results..

So could this be a rare wrench? Maybe a model number miss-stamping?

Re: Possibly a rare proto wrench?

The "28" and "32" seem to follow the old standard numbering in increments of 32nds of an inch. 28/32 = 7/8" and 32/32 = 1".

Maybe the double "1"s on the front signify military or government contract?

Re: Possibly a rare proto wrench?

Huh, I have no clue. 1128 is a much smaller DBE. 1139 is 3/4 x 7/8 and 1126 is 1/2 x 9/16. That wrench should be 1144 I believe. Those numbers haven't changed since Plomb so looks like a "misprint"

Thanks OP, I think we really need a lot more threads here like your idea. Also, someone has been shopping at Menards here! I have just a few of the Pratt Reed made MasterForce screwdrivers. I also like them better than modern or older Western Forge Craftsman acetate drivers. - Paul

Yay, I finally got a deal on ebay!

After getting fed up with old rusty tools bringing new prices, I got a new pair of Knipex diagonal pliers for $29.00 shipped in auction.

These retail for about $59.99 new. They are supposed to cut through a penny like butter.

Not by any means a "you ****" price. But still a good deal at half off retail.

I do a lot of wire scrapping, electric repair on cars, etc. Diagonal pliers seem to be one of the tools I use a lot.

I don't know who made them, but HWI was a hardware store chain. There used to be a few around here, but I haven't seen one in over 20 years.
