I'm trying to drop a new outlet in my garage. I'm trying to determine a good location near my work bench. The two locations in red were my original choices, but cannot due to lack of access to the top plate.

The location in green is accessible but didn't know if there was a problem with its proximity to my PEX water lines. Thoughts?

Outlet is fine by the pex pipe. You could prob do all three spots if you wanted to, you should be able to snake the wire horizontal on that wall if it's framed out like I think it is where there's space behind the 2x4

Green is good. It's between two studs based on location of main panel. Cut open a small hole at first to check PEX. Then what I would do is sink a double old work to have two dbl outlets. Ya can never have too many.

Thanks...two other questions. Is there a problem with the fixed bench beside the pex manifold (i thought that only applied to electrical boxes). Also, the walls are insulated...any special precautions I should take there?

Forgot an important question. Do outlets have to be added to the end of a chain? For instance, the easy place to get power is by tapping into an outlet between 2 other outlets.

If I tap into that outlet, it would have 4 wires pigtailed (one from the outlet providing power in front of it, one from the existing outlet it is supplying, one supplying the outlets (2-gang) suggested I add, and the jumper). Is this ok? Would I need to buy a deeper box for all those wires?

You can tap a circuit from anywhere. Just use a pigtail and don't put 2 wires under one screw.

Dependingon the size of the box, u will probably have to change it. And i would pigtail the outlet instead of using both terminals on the outlet to splice the circuit. In other words, wire nut your splices together and run a short wire from the wire nut over to the outlet, that way all the current in the circuit isnt flowing through the outlet.
