To anyone who can shed some light on this drill press,
I have searched everywhere for info on a "Detroit Machine Tool" heavy duty drill press with no success.
The drill press is a 20" floor model
Model number Ga-12F
Serial number 451349
Made in 1981
3/4 HP
12 speed heavy duty
I can't even find "Detroit" as a manufacturer of ANY power tools. Any info submitted will be welcomed.

You need to redo the photo so when you click on it, it actually shows larger. Right now its way too small to see and clicking on it doesn't make it any bigger.

Its probably an import. kinda like how Harbor Freight tools uses the "Chicago" and "Pittsburgh" names.

If the build date is 1981 it is a taiwan drill press. They had those labeled with all sorts of names, probably what the importer asked for. A great number of the taiwan drill presses are still around working fine.
Not a bad press, if it checks out as acurate and not beat up.

Being 20" swing, and 12 speed, it's probably a decent drill if it checks out OK mechanically, at least as far as Asian drill presses go.
