This is Big Bertha...
I inherited this compressor from my grandfather. One of the only things I got from him so it has some sentimental value to me and I had it rebuilt. It's a beast in size, but not in CFM.

It's got a small leak that causes it to leak down over night...
It's leaking at some kind of rubber gasket at the round flange. I thought about calling the guy who rebuilt it for me to see what to do to fix it but I don't even know what to call this piece. Anyone know?? I tried unbolting it, applying a little silicone and bolting it back, but that was a not go...

The part you have circled appears to be the 'no-pressure' air space for the unloader, sort of a 'pressure-free reservoir' to enable the pump to start against only ambient air.

The gasket for that flange is most likely to be just a paper gasket, a thin one of best quality paper gasket material.

Get some of that material, cut out and hole-punch a nice new gasket, clean and check the part surfaces for flatness, correct as necessary (meaning file to remove high spots if the part is out of flatness) fit the new gasket with no 'sealant', just a thin film of oil, tighten the bolts as you would for an engine head, to uniformly compress the new gasket, and all should be well.

cheers
