I picked up what I think is a home made air compressor. It's got a devilbiss pump on it. I can't really identify any model numbers on it but it appears to be pretty old. Its a two cylinder I believe single stage. The only numbers I can make out on it are cast into it. They are 225-4-2
I'm wondering if anyone can point me to figure out what exactly RPM it should run at.
The electric motor that came with it was junk. I was able to get a 1.5hp 1740 rpm. Is that enough horsepower to sufficiently power this compressor or should I look at getting a different one?
The current compressor pulley is 15in and the motor pulley is 5 and a 1/4 inch. I'm thinking of moving up to a 6 or 7 inch to get a little more rpm but still stay under 800-900 rpm.
