Hello all, I learn something every time I visit this site.
I would like to get a larger compressor for use with air tools, spray gun and sandblast cabinet. The one I have cannot keep up with the sandblaster, runs just about all the time. Trying to go the used route,=less expensive??
I would prefer a 60-70 gal. upright tank, for space reasons, but the pump itself is what I need help with. From my reading on this site I believe I should be looking for a 2 Stage cast iron pump, but others come along in ads locally.
Eg. last week saw an 80 gal. Quincy upright for $450.00 When I checked the ad on arrival at home that night, it had been removed. I guess they realised the price was too little??
Today I spotted an " OLD " DeVilbiss Model 230 being sold for a very reasonable
price. What do I look for? I am not too versed in compressors.
It has not been used for 4 years, did work when taken out of service, didn't they all! It's not wired in so cannot check it out running.
Only info I could get, in advance of going to look at it was the following:
DeVilbiss Model 230 Toledo, Ohio
800 Max. -RPM at 80 PSI
600 Max. -RPM at 150 PSI
Motor 2HP 1725 RPM
PH 115/230 Volt
Says minor surface rust, would change tank, as it is horizontal!
I tried to find info on line about this compressor, not too clear on parts availability. What should be done?
Is this something that would do what I am asking of it? Is it worth it to invest in a rebuild? etc.
Your thoughts and comments would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Bruce
