Weve been in this house for almost a year now and I’ve been working on the garage for about 6 months.
,
The builder calls it a 3 car tandem but it’s really a 2+ garage in my book.
,
XcYZ’s garage has served as my inspiration for this build. So thank you XcYZ:thumbup: your hard work payed off. Lets see if i can do the same.

I like the idea of getting everything off the floor.I want to be able to hose the floor down to keep it clean. Dock’s pvc baseboards would do the trick to keep water away from the drywall.

Lots of storage space using the soffit type cabinets and large base cabinets below with the most counter space possible. “Im allways running out of counter space.” I did some quick layouts in Inventor to figure out the basic Cabinet design.

Looks great. XcYZ's shop is a great target to shoot for.

Why so tall on the work surface? Is it so you can have the space underneath?

My last workbench was around 34 or so inches high. I find that a little higher is easier on my back. the added benefit is plenty of storage space below.

Boxes almost to the ceiling. Argggh! My wife told me to label the boxes carefully and I told her don’t worry ill figure it out. Now im kickin my self for not doing it. Live and learn.:lol_hitti

So heres the skeleton for the base cabinets. Im counting on the studs to provide a lot of the strength. In retospect I should have made large freestanding cabinets that I could take with me if I ever moved but these cabinets are BIG and the fit the space perfectly.

I feel the same way. Just haven't gotten around to raising my bench though.

You should consider getting those wood legs off the floor. Water will wick up those. If it's not too late put some adjustable feet on them or thick plastic pads.

This is exactly what I had in mind when I started then I got all carried away putting things together. Most of these legs are not touching the floor. There is about an 1/8" gap as they sit right now. Ive got to figure out what to shim them with. after i coat them with the floor epoxy.

First set of cabinets done and ready to move on to the long wall. I bought that 12” harbourfreight saw about 3 years ago to build a deck at my old house I’ve gotten my moneys worth. Not very accurate but works for rough work like this.
,
I used ½” sanded plywood for the face glued and srewed to the skeleton. At this point I was planning on covering the face with BONDO and sanding it smooth.

Heres a good look at the skeleton for the top cabinets. All 2x2 glued with Kreg jig connections. Later I glued ½ plywood dividers to stiffen the frame. Here again, It’s cheap to build but it takes a lot more work and you cant take them with you when you move.

Keep up the good work. You will be real happy ojnce finished and you can put stuff away in the storage space. Don't worry about not being able to take it with you. You need the storage space and this meets your needs. Plus it will look great for potential buyers in future. Just look at it as investment in the house that you can benefit from in the meantime.

Just put the doors on. Ive got to sand clear them but it,s starting to come together.
We went to Ikea last weekend and they have a good variety of countertop for a great price. I think il go with a dark, top almost black.
