Hey guys, was wondering if someone could explain the difference to me between a cordless impact driver and impact wrench( not the handheld impact driver). Will putting a 3/8 drive adapter give me the same effects as the wrench or is it a different ball game all together?

look at the torque specs of the 2. The wrench has 105 ft/lbs the driver has 96/ft lbs

You can use the adapter but it makes the tool longer.

I use a driver with the adapter it works fine for my needs but if you plan to use it in tight spaces doing auto work I would get the wrench. If it is a multi purpose tool id get the driver so you can do screws and such with it around the house.

You can use the adapter but it may rob you of some power. However, it should be okay with smaller fasteners.
