Years ago, I made the decision to go with the 18 volt platform for my cordless tools.

With the advent of the new 20 volt platform, does anyone know if I can use my job site radio with the adapter and 20 volt batteries, or do I need a 20 volt charger?

Thanks for the help

I think ur question is unclear - are you asking if your 18v Dewalt radio that ALSO charges batteries will charge the new lithium 20v packs with using the new 18v to 20v slide pack adapter?

If it's a Dewalt radio that charged 18v nicad packs exclusively - then no it won't work..

If you have any 20v tools you should have a charger. If not, maybe a good idea to get another tool with the charger vs buying the charger on its own.

Good question, I've been thinking of grabbing an adapter and some 20V batteries but I hadn't thought of the 20 V charger too. :(

Dewalt made/makes lithium 18v stick packs for the old platform. There are some of the older chargers that can do both nicad AND lithium, and that will be clearly stated on the front of the charger. Im assuming the radio does not, and is exclusive to nicad, but I could be mistaken.

If however it were, or u had an old charger that did lithium 18v - that MIGHT work.. to be honest I'm taking my best guess on that, but probably the only way to know for sure would be to try it out.

Still, with batteries being as expensive as they are - I'd personally just spring for the 20v charger and be done with it.

I'm planning to buy a 20 volt charger and 2 pack of batteries, as some of my 18 volt batteries have about reached the end of their useful life
