Sometimes I get confused so someone help me out. Does "BUILT IN THE USA" mean that the parts came from China and were sent over for the USA workers to build them?
As opposed too the word "MADE IN THE USA" from start to finish.
Gee.
I remember a thread where some people gave me **** because I called out DeWalt on their trying to fool people into believing that they were making stuff in the USA.
Here's a guy who got fooled, yeah?
So, OP...DeWalt has made it so a few people here in the states get low-paying, crappy, disposable jobs assembling these. The parts are made in China and shipped here. An American puts the Chinese parts in the Chinese tool, puts Chinese screws in it to hold it together, and that's it. These tools are made in China, but DeWalt is putting an American flag on the front to confuse you. They have to say "Built in the USA," which actually means nothing and has no requirements attached to it, because they can't say "Made in the USA" without getting fined by the government.
All of this is done for the sole purpose of fooling you into thinking it is an American tool so that you will happily pay a little extra for it instead of buying something else of comparable quality from a company that is more honest about where that tool comes from. This is a dirty, disgusting, shady, sketchy business practice designed to take advantage of US patriotism.
Built in the USA even if it's just assembly is better than nothing at all right ;-)
Gee.

So big old Dewalt thinks the American Flag will do the trick in order to sell more tools...by using "Built in the USA"; so people will buy it thinking it is all USA. If you live long enough you will see everything.

I want companies to be honest leave off the flag and don't get fancy with "New Wording" designed to fool some people into thinking it was an all USA product.
Fancy wording? Maybe there is an overall reading comprehension issue vs. an issue with their business practices.
It says, "Built in the USA". You can clearly read the wording in the picture that says built with global components.
This is a moot point. Everyone who is flag waving and pounding their chest b/c they drive American cars, well you need to look a little past the blue oval or the bowtie.
American cars are built using globally sourced parts. Harley Davidson-built with globally sourced parts.
The point is, they are made by American workers. Just like these DeWalt tools.
I also believe that those crying foul would also be the first to ***** and scream if DeWalt made the entire tool in the USA and then doubled the price of the tool.
Also, becareful of throwing stones when living in a glass house.
If you've ever shopped at Walmart then you have no right to gripe about DeWalt bringing some of their assembly process back to the US.
Fellas, way I look at it, it's a step in the right direction. If you don't like, by another company's product made in China and send your money to these exploited workers.
All boils down to it being your money, your choice. Spend it how you choose.

People need to quit buying this ****, period.

I love how many posts have people claiming everything should be USA and when dewalt does what they can, a step in the right direction, people act like its wrong, deceptive and not good enough
I believe that's correct the parts are sourced from different factories ie the motor made in China the trigger made Tawaiin the batteria Korea and then everything shipped to the USA for assembly.

I believe they are selling them for the same price as the COO stuff. OP, can you confirm or would you be willing to tell us what you paid for this set?

17. Will building products in the USA change the price I pay for the tool and why?
No. DEWALT continues to manufacture quality tools at the same end price for professionals, regardless of the manufacturing location. DEWALT distributes products as close to its consumers as possible to provide the best service and quality.
I was having a discussion a while back at work. My friend was telling me that is common.
Different sources so that nobody (the workers) knows what the final product is.
Then assembled in a common place.
I doubt the reason they use different factories is to keep the workers in the dark, if you really believe that you need to remove your tin hat.
I would want to give these USA ones a chance, but my experience with 20v Dewalt is, buy M18. Made in china by non-exploited workers (some chinese people actually make a decent wage in a factory, it's true). The dewalt and milwaukee both start out working just fine, but dewalt 20v is not a marathoner. Seen enough batteries replaced under warranty, their BL tools especially the motors seize up like crazy, and even with a perfectly running dewalt drill, the overload protection is annoying as ****.If you don't like it, buy another company's product made in China and send your money to these exploited workers.

So would you rather keep some USA employees employed or disregard everything and buy an entirely foreign manufactured drill?
I don't think anyone anymore is assuming the components are made in the United States.

If the built in USA ones are going to fix all that, so be it. I hope they do. But if it's going to be the same **** just assembled here instead of elsewhere, honestly I can't say I'd be all that excited. Sure it's an american job and that's great, but nobody here is going to quit their current job and assemble drills for Dewalt are they? There can't be that much pride inside that box. Everybody needs to take it down several notches.
