Dewalt 3.0ah battery info

I have a Dewalt DCF899 impact wrench, but only have a 1.5ah battery at the moment. I'm not a mechanic, so I don't need it to run all day every day, but the few times I have used it, the 1.5ah has run down 2 bars on me. Because I don't need it to run all day, I was looking at buying a 3.0ah since a brand new one can be had for about $40. Basically two 3.0 can be had for less than a 5.0ah. Other than run time, will a 3.0ah put out more power than a 1.5ah? And will a 5.0 put out more power than a 3.0? When I say power, I mean torque output from the impact wrench itself to the nut/bolt.

No. The different batteries will only affect 'run-time'.
You would need to get a different impact for more power; perhaps a bigger one, maybe with a brush-less motor.

It is brushless. It's brand new, best one they make. I just need a bigger battery and wanted to make sure they didn't affect the power differently.

The dcf899 IS brushless. I believe it's basically tied with the Milwaukee for the most powerful cordless impact on the market.

Run time is the only real difference, except I think the 3.0ah may not have the LED meter. Your 1.5ah is a compact battery, whereas the 3/4/5 are full size batteries. Heavier, double the number of cells.

if they dewalt is like milwaukee, then the 5.0 ah has as much or more total juice than two 3.0 batteries. Also the bigger batteries handle voltage sag better.

They do have the "fuel gauge" led meter.

I get that, but I don't use this enough to pay $80 for one battery. Plus, they charge in 15 minutes.

The smaller batteries' only advantage is price and weight. If doing light jobs, the 1.5 is alright. It's pretty much proportional. A 3.0 is usually about twice as much in cost as a 1.5.

Well that's an interesting video. Thanks for sharing. Evidentially run time is not the only difference and that's what I thought. Although my 1.5 has worked for me, it doesn't seem like it's really pushing out the 700 ft lbs its supposed to. I bought a 3.0 off eBay last night for $39 brand new in package. I can't wait to put it to the test when I get it.
