I'm going to upgrade my tired old craftsman table saw and looking real hard at the Dewalt 7491RS. I've been all over looking at reviews and videos and like what I'm seeing so far. I was also considering the Ridged 4510.

What I like about the Dewalt is the large rip capacity and the ability to spin a dado blade.

I like how both the Dewalt and Ridged come with rolling carts for portability and quick set up.

Anyone have this saw and or suggestions/opinions?

I was looking at investing into a table saw and my brother always said get the one with the best fence. I never ended up buying one, but the Delta and the Ridgid both had really nice fences. But there you go. As a professional cabinet maker, he knows what he's talking about. He has a inexpensive Craftsman with a fence on it 3x the price of his saw.

Same amps, but the ridgids fence looks a little more sturdy to me.

It really is all about the fence, and having enough power to rip through the wood (mainly 8/4 hardwoods).

Between those two, I would pick the Ridgid, but I favor cabinet or hybrid cabinet saws. they generally come with great fences and enough power, and really feel solid when you are ripping a 16ft piece of hardwood or a 8ft sheet of plywood.

What's the rack and pinion fence all about? I understand it had two gears that mesh on each end which should be great for accuracy?

I have a Ridgid 4510....I like it a lot. It is very smooth & powerful....and the fence is very easy to adjust.

I dont have any experience with the DeWalt 7491RS though, it may be better.

One thing to keep in mind....they are phasing out the 4510 models & replacing them with the 4513 models.....which apparently are not quite as nice. Most of the Home Depots around here still stock the 4510, but I think once the inventory is gone it will be only the 4513. Also, they were running $399 w/stand not too long ago, I dont know if the price has changed back to $499 yet, but it was $100 off for a long time.

If you dont mind jumping up a bit in price, you can get a grizzly hybrid cabinet saw, with better everything, other than portability.
