Well today I started a new project. Replacing planks on a trailer. The planks are held in with T40 Torx screws. Now many of these my Dewalt was able to loosen but many it would not. I broke the stubborn ones loose with a plane 3/8 ratchet. The ones that I broke loose with the ratchet did not seem that tight. My battery was fully charged (nicad) and I used a torx socket directly onto the tool.
My question is does the diameter of say a socket vs a Torx have any bearing on the tools ability to remove a fastener? Heck I have broken lug nuts off my F150 with this.It would seem that a 7/8 socket would have more torque than a T40 Torx screw. Does physics come into play here? Thanks, Ken
