can you replace the 3/8 anvil on the 890 impact with the 1/2 anvil? If so, any info on how to do it along with the 1/2 PN would be appreciated. I already have multiple 1/2" air impacts and only use this for light duty, but would rather have a 1/2 drive.
Thanks!

I have a converted 887 to 3/8" next to an 880 1/2" and I can tell you that the silver end "nose come" opening is larger for the 1/2" anvil. That means at least the anvil and nose need to be replaced (if everything else is compatible) which might not be cost effective.

Why not just use a 3/8 to 1/2 adapter

That's what I do. But I'm sure that I saw a post here months back where someone changed a 3/8 dewalt to 1/2 by changing just the anvil. I tried searching but couldn't find it.

You can try to cross reference the part numbers on www.ereplacementparts.com and see what is the same between the two. As I posted previously, the noses may be different but if the inner components are the same minus the anvil and the nose then you know with a simple replacement of those two pieces you'll be in business.

I can't believe it will be that simple, however.

I looked at the parts breakdown for several of Dewalt impacts it looks like it is possible to go 1/4 hex to 3/8 and vice versa but I didn’t see any corresponding parts from a dcf890 to any of the 1/2 in models like a dcf 880 for example that is not saying I didn’t miss one
