Hell of a deal! My bearings should be in today, any tips on pressing them onto the motor? Was thinking of popping them in the oven then trying to slide them on. What temp should I heat them?

I think you should probably put them in the freezer over night. Or if you have a deep freezer. Did this on some trailing arm bearings for my quad and seemed to help a lot

I would have to freeze the armature for this application so the bearings would be able to slide on the shafts. I may heat the bearings and freeze the armature and in theory they should just slide right on

heat the bearing with a hot air gun,or heated oil ( not too hot as to hit the flash point tho!
We have a lot of ovens at my work I was gonna heat them to 180-200f should be low enough to not cause damage but enough to expand a little

Pinned it down to the brushes not making contact. Ordered new ones which should be about three times as long as the current ones. If I jam the brushes n give it a turn it will run. After a power cycle I have to do it again the springs can't push it down enough at this point

Well after letting it run a while I noticed a burning smell and lots of sparks around the commutator :/ first thought was its just the new brushes getting broken in but I don't think that is the case

A welding supply will have a commutator stone for a few dollars. Might be something stuck inside there.

Many ball valves carry a 600 psi WOG rating (water, oil, gas). If you mount it on a short length of tubing, you won't need to bend over as far.

You did check voltages, etc right?

Absolutely worse case, you have a nice surge tank for a air blaster and parts for your next compressor.

I'll take it apart again tomorrow and take a look. I found a drain valve at home Depot for $5 1/4 turn easy drain. I tested the continuity. Is there a specific way to test the commutator with a multimeter?

Polished up the commutator with a wire Dremel attachment and she's running fine now. It was buggered up from trying to run it with the worn brushes
