I managed to revive rechargeable Streamalite Flashlights (Nicads 6volts I think) using the "start" setting on a battery charger.

Rebuild them yourself. The link apong23 listed has decent prices for sub-C with a solder tap prewelded. Lay them out same as the old pack with some battery braid to connect the tabs, 10 min later your good to go.
If you have them "rebuilt" they work well, cost about half of a new one, and use thin strapping vs the heavy gauge OEM strapping. Life span is about the same compared to OEM. Only issue I've run into at work is a failed spot weld, caused a Dead batt on the jobsite. A few min with the big solder gun back at the shop good as new.

There are some youtube videos that show the rebuild process. One video says that they recommend spot welding the batteries together, but I soldered mine. Be careful not to connect the wrong ends, or it will start sparking. Just follow how yours were assembled, a volt meter will be helpful.
