$79 for the speaker, $39 for the transmitter.. Basically it seems u can plug the transmitter into a phone or a radio, and transmitt via Bluetooth to the dewalt speaker. Not 100% on that - but they are new in stores

I saw that. Hopefully the technology will drop in price. $39 seems like a lot just for an adapter, esp compared to the price of DeWalt's speaker or the new M12 speaker coming out.

Oh and I assumed the $79 unit you mention is standalone Bluetooth, nothing more required. Maybe not?

The one I got was a blue tooth rcv, plugs into the aux port of any dewalt(or other) radio and lets it rcv bluetooth from your phone. Supply house had em on sale for 25.

If all you plan on doing is using bluetooth to play music from your smartphone or tablet, I would recommend one of the numerous bluetooth speakers on the market. I bought the JBL Flip on sale for under $90, though it's normally around $100. Compact, good battery life, and great sound. It and my phone have totally replaced the old garage radio.

I also have read decent things about the Bose Soundlink. Main drawback is the extra $30 and it seemed a little less rugged than the one I bought when I was messing with it in store.
