I have the Dewalt mid torque impact. Not the most powerful, but most of the time you don’t need 700lb ft of torque either. It’s fairly small and I like the fit in my hand. I’d buy it again if I didn’t have one. I’ve been eyeing the more powerful one, but I have an air compressor and 1/2 impact that is equal to or maybe more powerful than the dewalt so I have t pulled the trigger yet.

What are the model numbers you are looking at? We abuse the DCF899 at work pretty good and never have an issue with it.

I have the high torque 1/2 impact. It has a lot of balls for sure. If I bought again, I would buy the hog ring model instead of the pin as it is a pain in the *** to get sockets off.

Best friend has the DCF899 with pin, it's an absolute beast. I haven't gotten it yet (that pricetag!), but I did get the DCF887B for putting together some serious storage in our garage -- I picked up a 1/4" hex to 3/8" square adapter from Milwaukee and some 3/8" impact sockets, and it'll take wheels off of my car without much fuss. I wanted to get the 3/8" impact as well, but for the pricetag, the adapter seems to be just fine.

I definitely feel that the high-torque is a large tool -- but when you need the extra "oomph", you'll be glad to have it. We had an axle nut on his girlfriend's TL that wouldn't come off with a 4 foot breaker bar, the impact didn't blink at it.
