Dewalt Cordless Drill

Howdy!
I have this Dewalt cordless drill that I've had for approximately 4 years. It works great except for just recently I discovered that the end won't turn to release the drill bit. It's not stuck or anything. Just won't turn. Has this happened to anyone? Is there a fix for it, or am I just stuck with using that drill bit until it breaks.

Here's a picture. Actually it's not a drillbit stuck in there, it's a screwdriver bit. Either way, the end won't turn at all to release the bit. It's not stuck, because when it was working properly, it would screw outward to release the bit. Now, it doesn't move at all, but now has a click sound to it if I try to move it. I think somehow the gears inside got messed up.

Just an observation but you have the clutch set very low and if youre trying to take the bit out by using the drills power that would explain the clicking. Try turning the clutch to a higher setting or the drill setting and see if the bit comes out.

I have the same drill. Do what DJ stated it click the torque to the drill bit pic and then hold onto the chuck and put it in reverse.

For whatever reason you're not supposed to do that anymore, spinning the chuck under drill power. Don't get me wrong, I do it on my Dewalt, but the manual definitely said not to.
OP, have you tried just grabbing the chuck and turning it counter-clockwise while holding the drill? I hope so, but let us know where you're at.

I've had to use channel-locks on mine to break it loose.

I'll try anything. It's not like it's too tight, it just won't open up. I just get one click when I try. Almost like it's locked in place. I tried pushing in and turning, pulling out and turning, and just turning the end and nothing works. It just moves maybe a quarter inch, clicks, and that's it.

I really like this tool. It's smaller than the full size and lighter weight and can fit into small areas. If I have to, I guess I'll go buy a new one.

Get over the throwaway mentality. Find a Dewalt service center for your area. Carry it in. It's probably a ten second fix or a couple of simple parts that crapped out.
