Hello, I am looking to buy the DEWALT DCF899HB 20V MAX XR Brushless High Torque 1/2" Impact Wrench with Hog Ring Anvil, does anyone here have one? Does it work well for suspension bolts and wheel lugs? Thanks!!

I don't have any experience with the 20v MAX impact, but my experience with the AC powered impact was disappointing. OK for lug nuts, and general light use, but big and bulky. It was inadequate for rusty wheel hub to steering knuckle bolts. I had to buy real air tools for that application.

AC and DC tools are completely different animals.

I have the 18v Dewalt as well and it is a great little machine.

I have the 18 volt xrp gun, use it for removing drivelines and axle on class 4-8 trucks. To prevent transmission damage when towing them. Most axle bolts require them to be broken free with a breaker bar then the impact takes over.

I have several different sized Dewalt impacts and they work great. I have the 20V MAX 1/2" impact and it did the suspension on my 4Runner no problem. The only down side is they are light weight so after a day of working with them your joints may let you know you had a light tool in your hand banging away on stubborn bolts.

I just picked up the 899. I haven't had a chance to try it yet. Have read a lot of very positive reviews on it.

Just got my DCF 899 with detention pin today. Just did a test on a Toyota Corolla lugs, took it off with ease. I think this tool will be great on trips and around the garage, very impressed, this is my 1st cordless impact.

Got out early this morning playing around some more with this tool, maybe its just that I'm not used to this much power, but this thing is awesome. Haven't yet to come across a lug nut that even made it work hard.

I got the bare tool from CPO, and got 2 new 5.0 Amp hour batteries from Ebay. This is definitely going with me on road trips while towing my boat.

And the light is super bright, you could easily change a tire in pitch dark with no extra flashlight.

I've an 18 XRP. Once in a while the 40" breaker and maybe even the torch need to come out. VERY seldom.Any of these types will gitRdun in todays available lineup. My little M12 Fuel seldom fails to ****** a lug nut. That says a lot for battery powered stuff , in general.

Says video is private

Im not sure lag bolt tests are the best test for these impacts after trying it yesterday. For the automotive you can see the IR doing the same thing with a 3.0 battery as the video I posted above with the Dewalt ripping axle nuts, this is the IR on a 3.0 battery:

I am not sure if 5.0 battery on the Dewalt is more powerful or makes the tool more powerful than say a 3.0 on the IR, so then I would say the IR is maybe more powerful because they both screwed the lagbolts almost synchronized.
Here is the video:

So I was curious and did that test again with a $40 220ft-lbs impact wrench with 1/2" lag bolts and the result is the same, it doesnt seem like lag bolts are the best indicator of how powerful the impacts are.

Here is video of the $40 220ft-lbs corded impact vs the dewalt DCF899

I use the 18v dewalt 1/2" impact at work everyday for almost four years now. I'm the mechanic at a golf course and I love it! It makes my job easier. It's cut the use of my IR pneumatic impact in half. I've got the 3/8ths drive one as well.

Today I noticed when I put the deep impact socket (kobalt) that it had a bit of wobble to it. Is this normal? The tool functions flawless, just wondering if the wobble is anything to worry about.

Does anyone know if you can run this new impact wrench on the 3.0 aH batter? Or do I need to buy some 5.0aH batteries?

In case anyone was on the fence about dewalt dcf899......its a beast.....took lugs off my 250 w/no problem and will over torque fastners if u want.....I got mine for 220 off ebay....already had two 5 amp batteries.....I give it an A+ review.....I watched the youtube reviews and comparisons.....they were right on....dcf 899 is a beast and the milwaukee it seems is just as good.....no need for a snap on or matco cordless. Or so it seems

A guy at work has one and really likes it. Says it will take wheels off a quad axle dump truck. It's out for repair now as it quick working, I don't know what is wrong with it.

I have the dcf899hb and it's a monster. While I'm not a mechanic by trade, I've used it on lots of different stuff, suspension bolts included, and it impresses me each time. It doesn't flinch at lug nuts. To put it in perspective, I also have air powered Snap On mg725 and 3/4" Aurcat 1600th that I haven't touched since buying the Dewalt. It's one of the best tool purchases I've made in recent months. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I'm cheap so bought 3ah batteries and even used my existing 1.5ah battery. They all work the same, just don't last as long the less ah they have.
