Hi I know theres a ton of air compressor threads on here but has anyone ever used or tried this air compressor? I am looking to replace an ancient Ir that has really reallly long recovery time. I can get 8 lug nust offf with my impacts and need to wait 5 minutse to be back at 120.
Anyway been thinking about replacing after spending 1 hour cutting off 2 bolt heads on arusty suburban bumper which i am sure with agood compressor i could of done in 5 minutes.
I use small craftsman 1/2 impacts, 3/8 air ratchet, small die grinder, air chisel, small bead blast cabinet. All VERY infrequently but when i want air i really dont want to waste time very frustrating. A small size and footprint would be good. Current compressor turns very slowly and is fairly quiet but i would guess 0-120 takes 8-10 minutes 80-120 about 5 so the noise it does make is anoyiing anyway. 2 car attcahed garage 24x24 cant hear existing compressor at all when running on other side of entry door wife says that would be nice to keep that way. Link on dewalt says 78 db How loud is that?
I can get locally for about $340
Any feedback?
Ryan

My buddy just bought one of those. It is quieter than my old husky 26 gal oil free, but i don't think it's as quiet as my 60gal IR belt drive.

It still takes a while for it to get up to presure. Partly because it has to get up to 200psi before it stops.

Overall my opinion is it's nice for an oil free direct drive, but you're better off buying a smaller belt drive similar to the IR garagemate: http://www.irtools.com/IS/product.aspx-en-3054.

Dewalt bought out Emglo a couple of years ago, that could be a rebadged Emglo. Emglos were really good compressors. Now, I can't tell you for sure that A) this compressor is actually built by Emglo or B) Whether or not Dewalt has totally bastardized Emglo to the point where the name means nothing. I'm just not much help, am I?:(

I just picked this up from Home Depot for $314 + tax.
Ill unbox it tomorrow and let you know how it works.
I am extremely used to crappy compressors, so I will let you know how it rates.

Just as a follow-up:
The compressor is an Emglo. Its pretty quiet for a reasonably priced compressor and seems to be built pretty well. I would tend to believe the 74db rating as I can run the compressor and not worry what my neighbor thinks.

As it recharging the tank above 150psi or so it starts to rattle a bit as the pump is working harder. The regulator seems to be of higher quality than the cheapo compressors out there and it was very easy to set the appropriate pressure and fine tune it.

I am very happy with it and it takes up very little room in the garage. It is rated at 15amps. I used it today with an impact and to put up 2 squares of engineered siding and with an initial charge of 200psi it didnt really need to recharge very much. Id recommend it.
