I have the DC823 and DW059. The 823 is the 3/8" version of the 820. I wouldn't bother with the 820 personally, it doesn't have the torque really necessary for most places you'd be using 1/2" drive stuff anyway. You definitely won't be doing suspension or brakes or tire changes with it. The 3/8" one however is great because it has the right amount of torque for the smaller fasteners under the hood, interior, etc.
The DW059 is good for swapping tires but is quite bulky and not variable speed, so not as useful as a good air impact.

I had a dewalt 1/2" impact and was not impressed with its performance. I traded it in and got an ingersol rand 1/2" lithium ion 20V impact and was V E R Y impressed with its ability.

If you are set on dewalt, I would get their 20v max DFC880, that way you are line up with the next gen battery system.
