I have been a fan of the DCD996 hammer drill for years using them at work and since my Ridgid took a dump earlier wanted one for home. DeWalt apparently doesn’t make the DCD996 anymore and not a fan of the ew Flex volt line so ended up buying what I thought was a pretty nice EBay unit but after unboxing it yesterday and trying it out the e-brake appears to not be consistent. Feels like it has pretty good power still but unlike all my other 996’s, when you depress the trigger it stops on a dime with that “chunk” sound. This one appears to want to stop sometimes and other not.
I’ve been told the function of the e-brake is all in the trigger and read someone who sprayed contact cleaner through it was able to fix it but sprayed the **** out of it and still no change. Anyone else have this issue that can help shed some light on this for me?
Here is a video of what its doing the moment I fired it up..
