It's hard for me to imagine how to control cuts with such a long extension.

It gives you more leverage to control it.

It's also only a 3" disc, rather than a 5" for a full sizer grinder.

They say it uses 4" discs.

I guess I'm thinking about using it when the access is restricted. So, by definition, I'll not be able to use any leverage (no clearance to put one of the hands closer to the disc). Maybe I shouldn't think along those lines.

Yes go back a few comments, it's at Home Depot comes with a free battery starter set, if you return the batteries, they pro-rate the grinder at $150

That one is tempting. I think most angle grinders are 4", but lots of them have the guards removed to run bigger discs. Having your knuckles further away might be a plus.

This one says it's reversible. That would be a handy feature to be able to chose which way to throw sparks.
