I consider DeWalt, Milwaukee and so on to be disposable power tools these days. I don't think any of them will stand up to a 250 lb. gorilla using them all day long for years. Most non-professionals only use them a 1/2 to 1 hour every few weeks or months and should pretty good luck with any brand.

I'm curious what you would consider to be a pro brand cordless drill.

Does the buy/return still work on these kits? It used to break down the cost at checkout but now that they are all listed under one kit it just shows the final price. I already have the drill/impact kit but am looking to get the small shop blower and possibly the bluetooth radio.

breaks it down on an in store receipt. return deal is not very good imo, but theres certain combos that will maximize your savings on a single tool if you do the math... i dont remember if you want the cheapest second tool or the most expensive but the problemo is that all the tools areoldies except the sander and you should already have a stack of $15 ridgid 18v sanders if you have been doing it right..

My opinion probably differs from others, I'm not overly impressed with DeWilt, Milweakee or any of the typical brands that I've personally used. Like many things I wish they were built just a bit better even if the cost was ~10% more.

If you know of any that will last, say 7 to 10 years, when used all day long everyday let me know. Chances are the cost would be way beyond what my budget allows.

Pro's that earn their living with their tools might be wise to have backups on hand. I kept my older 18v DeWilts and have a couple of the battery adapters for just in case and I no longer make my living with tools.

Perhaps some of the German brands would be considered to be more of a pro version and last longer than Milweakee or DeWilt but they are a bit more expensive.

I see tons of DeWalt and Milwaukee on jobsites. Never seen a Hilti cordless ever. While we argue, the "disposable" tools are out there building america every day.

I've seen mostly the same on jobsites. But IMO what is used on jobsites doesn't necessarily mean that they are the best available brands. YMMV. Cost does affect choices.

BTW, I've seen a few Harbor Freight and Craftsman cordless drills being used on jobsites...

DEWALT DCB205 20V MAX XR 5.0Ah Lithium Ion Battery-Pack
Ships from and sold by Amazon.com

Currently $65.91

"Temporarily out of stock.
Order now and we'll deliver when available. We'll e-mail you with an estimated delivery date as soon as we have more information. Your account will only be charged when we ship the item."

Date codes indicates the ones I purchased last week, made in Korea, are from the 8th week of 2019. (2019 08-49 2-1)

I ordered, not Prime, when they were "Temporarily out of stock" and they were on the front porch 3 days after ordering, second day after getting back in stock. YMMV

Price on these have been jumping around between $60 to $70 but have gone as low as $50 and as high as $119 in the last week.

Currently cheaper to buy 2 separately than to buy a 2 pack.
DEWALT DCB205-2 20V MAX XR 5.0Ah Lithium Ion Battery, 2-Pack currently at $179.55.
