Which reciprocating multi tool would y'all recommend?

Other? Cost is a factor

I have good results with Dewalt in general but the Rockwell "looks" to be better at a lower cost.

Thanks

It's ironic that both of those brand names were resurrected from defunct tool makers. But, the DeWalt name was brought back by Black & Decker for their professional line of power tools back in the 1990's, and is regarded as one of the higher end brands of power tools. I am a big fan of my DeWalt tools, and I have many.

Rockwell, on the other hand, was just brought back to life in the last 10 years or so by a Chinese company. I have never used a new Rockwell tool. It appears to me that they are a budget power tool that, through the use of an old American brand name, hopes to fool the general public into believing that they are a high quality tool. I don't believe they are on par with DeWalt, Milwaukee, Bosch, Makita, etc., but their marketing department would disagree.

As I said, I've never used their tools. Whether my opinion is based on reality or ignorance, it is my opinion. I would never consider a Rockwell tool if I could afford the DeWalt.

I have the DeWalt. I haven't used it a lot but I really like it. Works real good. Only regret is I wish I just would've gone with the cordless version. It's the only corded tool I own. I figured I wouldn't need a cordless version but now I realize a cordless version probably would've been more useful

Hmmm, on the cordless. I have batteries and tools in 14.4V and 18v, this one I could only see Lithium Ion battery type. I was hoping not to have a third battery type but your experience is noted. Thanks

Most of my cordless tools are all 18v but I do have a few 20v tools now as well. Although you'd have another battery type at least you could get the 20v battery set with the 18v adaptor making them a little more useful.

I purchased a Rockwell Sonicrafter right when they came out. Plugged it in and quickly returned it. The thing was impossible to hold or use, it vibrated so much. I picked up a refurbished Dremel version and it's much better.

Sorry to bring a third option into the mix, but take a look at the Bosch. I'm a DeWalt guy, but really like my corded Bosch oscillating saw. Very similar cost and quality, but a more universal tool less blade attachment.

Don't mind the third option at all, even asked for it..lol
Lot's of options within the Bosch lineup especially in the corded versions

I have a router and table saw from Bosch and am very happy with both

I am seeing the Bosch will run a little more money but not out of my budget...

Ive got the corded Bosch, found it on sale. Its been great, plenty of power, good build quality, etc...

I dont think Rockwell power tools are very high quality. Actually, I know they arent. Big pass. If you want to go cheap, the HF gets decent reviews for cost vs price.

Do you recall which corded Bosch you use? The GOP40, GOP55 or the MX30 line?
