I have an older version. What I need is the rolling portable stand. Make sure you pick that up also.

The DW780 is on sale for 499 at lowes. Ebay will get you a 10% off lowes coupon any day of the week for a few dollars. Which puts the 780 just $50 more than the 779 sale price. The illuminated guide system and increase in cut depths on the 780 is worth the extra $50, in my opinion.

The DWS779 and 780 are identical with the exception of the LED blade positioning system (XPS cross-cut alignment system), which can be added to the 779 for ~$60, with documentation and pictures all over the internet and here on GJ.

This thread is about the 782, but the same parts convert the 779:

Most Lowes will price match Home Depot, so using Lowes (10% off) gift cards should bring the price of the 779 to $360.

Add the ~$60 for the XPS parts, and you have a DWS780 for $420, or less if you get additional discounts from Lowes (like prior military).

I did the same thing last year when Lowes had the DWS 779 for $314 plus $62 for the XPS parts. One heck of a deal if you ask me.
