Dewalt Impact Release Date

I'm interested in Dewalt's Model DCF899 1/2" Impact and before I go out and buy it I was interested to see if anyone had any information on a possible new generation coming out in the future.

I saw Milwaukee just released their Gen 2 18v Fuel 1/2" Impact (Model 2767) and it looks like it will be crowned the new King of portable Impacts. I'm guessing Dewalt will possibly release a new Gen Impact to compete with Milwaukee sometime sooner than later.

If I didn't have a bunch of gift cards to Lowes I would buy the new Milwaukee unless someone can honestly say that the new Milwaukee isn't much better than the current Dewalt.

The only previews DeWalt made is for the Mid Touque (DCF894). If you already have other DeWalt tools the CDF899 if fine. I have one and it works fine. I bought it at Lowes for $279 on sale with a charger and 4 Ah battery. Assembled in USA too.

I have the 889, and it's a beast. It's big though...and for the amount of time I need a gun this strong, it's a bit cumbersome. I'm going to get the mid torque model when it comes out, and I'll likely sell the 889. Very few of us need anything with over 400lb.ft of torque.

I would get the milwaukee gen 2 if you aren't already invested in either system.

Long story short is I've decided to go with the DeWalt not because its better than the Milwaukee but because of the Lowes gift cards which will pay for most of cost of the impact. Plus its on sale for $280. Unfortunately Lowes doesn't carry Milwaukee and to top it off they only carry the pin detent model. If it wasn't for the Lowes gift cards I would choose the new Milwaukee but in the end its just first world problems and I will have a cordless impact that has more than enough power for me. For what it's worth, I have Mac's new brushless 1/2" impact which is made by Dewalt. Absolutely a beast. Haven't met anything it can take off working on equipment.

Went on Ebay and bought a $40 off $200 or more Lowes coupon for $2.95. Used $225 in Gift Cards and the DeWalt Impact was on sale for $279.99 so with tax it cost me $37.30. The Milwaukee may be the better of the two but I would be a fool to pass up a great impact for less than $40.

So true here. That gun will serve you great for years to come and in all reality is likely more than you and almost anyone here really needs.

I wouldn't say "so heavy." Considering how powerful it is and all it can do, I say it's worth the extra weight when compared to a pneumatic impact. I absolutely love my 899.

OP, if you're looking for protective rubber boots for the impact and batteries, Mac sells them on their website and they fit perfectly. As mentioned, the cordless Mac tools and batteries are Dewalt. Both under Stanley umbrella.

I recently started working at a collision center. So I'm doing suspension work all day. I use my Makita rated at 210ft lbs all day. I only break out the DCF899 a few times a WEEK.. When you need it you need it..I would get the mid torque model
