hi, so i just picked up a (used) DeWalt forced air heater (210k) and was hoping someone could help me sort out some issues.
first issue was that the unit would not come on. found that the thermostat was bad. i've replaced that.
After that the heater would come on but would have excessive smoke and you could hear the flame come on and off. after a few sec it would shut off and flash a "2" which is flame not detected.
i took the rear cover off to see what it was doing exactly and when it did that it would run fine every time. flame came on, no smoke. however, thats when i noticed that the spark was not cutting out. it would stay on the whole time.
put the cover back on and it went back to acting up. i tired this one more time today and now even with the cover off i get no fuel and no flame. spark is still there.
now its showing 0 fuel pressure. before it was a constant 8.5-9psi.
i checked the hoses for leaks and there are none. fuel filter is also clean.
i feel like i have a few issues. 1. ignition does not go out. i'm thinking the only way to repair this is to replace the board. 2. no more fuel pressure. only thing i can think of is the pump is bad as it was working fine before.
only thing that doesnt make sense to me is why it wouldn't run with the cover on before. i was thinking a lack of air flow but there are no obstructions. maybe too much air blowing the flame out? dont see how that would be possible though. unit is not damaged in any way and has very low run time. burning #2 diesel if it matters.
thank you
