Dewalt Polisher?

Was thinking about picking one up for the occasional truck detail and maybe for a pass or two over some older tool storage boxes. Any tips on technique from someone with experience?

Wondering if it would end up being more trouble than it’s worth in inexperienced hands. Or worse, that I could end up doing some damage in the interest of saving time.

Thanks.

No experience with that polisher but there are 2 different types in general rotary and orbital. I have no experience with a rotary because from what I have read they are much easier to ruin a paint job with.. I have a cyclo polisher. It’s has worked very well for the few times I have used it. It’s a dual head orbital. I used to regular the Adams polishes forum before I had kids and lost the time to detail cars regularly. You might check them out for polishing info

I detail, paint correction, as a side gig for the last 15 years. I don't use a rotary, don't need one really. I have a Flex 3401. Absolute workhorse, also have a GG6. With todays compounds, polishes and pads, they can get the job done.
Rotary machines still have there place but I do ok with what I have Have you ever seen holograms in paint? They are caused by a rotary in the wrong hands.

Thanks for the tips. Should have said I’m in no way married to the Dewalt. Will check out the suggestions.

I have the HF DA polisher, the old model that is becoming harder to find. With a coupon it’s about $50.

Pair that with a new Astro backing plate, some Lake Country pads, and Meguiars products, it has been a great machine. It vibrates a little too much for my taste and it’s somewhat noisy, but it performs very well with a good technique. You really don’t have to drop a lot of coin here.

I’m in my setup for under $150

Check out Larry Koscilla (ammonyc) on YouTube for some great techniques. The Autogeek forums has a knowledgeable crowd as well.

Here’s what the HF machine and some quality accessories can do for you.
