Looking for a home set of reversible ratcheting wrenches. So far it appears the Dewalt 12 piece metric set is the best deal out there $100 from HD. There used to be a deal for SAE and Metric Gearwrench for $200 but it seems the GJ consensus that china Gearwrench reversibles are basically a waste of money. So two questions has any one used the dewalt ones, any idea where they are made? And any alternative I'm missing?

Just bought a new SAE set after acme had the Labor Day coupon. Made in Taiwan. Haven’t used them enough to comment on durability. I do like my older metric set that has ASD and a beefier switch. Have a post in new tool arrivals with pics and comparisons.

I think the next step up are Kabo made Icon and Carlyle ratcheting wrenches. Think the sets might be a 30% premium on average vs the dewalts. Premium might be worth it IMHO as Stanley has been downgrading the dewalt lineup after craftsman entered the picture.

Look on eBay. U less they changed them - I have their reversible sets I got for like $49 on sale at Sears. But they were always under the $100 price on eBay.

Sears is the same price as HD at least right now and ebay is higher than HD and sears, might have to wait until a sale.

The OEM looks decent, where were they made?

The dewalt ones should be made in Taiwan. Nothing really special about the ratcheting end IIRC. If I were the OP I'd still be getting the GW ones as long as they are easy to warranty for the OP and cost less.

I had to warranty a gearwrench branded regular combo and they fought tooth and nail not to warranty it so I'm not going to count on these being any better, but I rarely count on warranty being around when the tool actually fails, usually my luck it's no longer made or the company acts like gearwrench did.

This is where an authorized dealer comes in. You have to figure out if you have any local dealers that are willing to help you. I've got a GW dealer that is usually helpful and puts stuff on sale at around online prices every now and then and a Dewalt factory repair centre that replaces any broken Stanley brand hand tools such as dewalt.

These are the ones I bought a few years ago. Anti slip design borrowed from Proto
