I’m wondering if anyone has had any experience with these sets. I was looking for a general set to keep in the car. Wondering who is the OEM, durability etc. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I purchased a small Dewalt tool kit from Costco recently, COO was Taiwan for the tools and China for the case. The ratchet was a 1/4” 72 tooth and seemed pretty nice. I have away the set as a gift, so I didn’t put it to use.

Looking at the contents of that kit, the skips and lack of a 19mm wrench would annoy me. For a modern car tool kit an all metric would be better. Tekton makes a comprehensive all metric 6-24mm 3/8” socket set for $70. That plus a metric combination wrench set, pliers, and a multi bit screwdriver would make an ideal auto kit.

I have a set like that from Dewalt. It's not a bad set but, you could probably make a more complete set up on your own. The problem I have with Dewalt mechanics tools is that they started out great but, have cheapened out on tool features recently. For example, their combination wrenches used to have anti slip open ends, but current stock have smooth open ends. Their chrome sockets used to have clean detents on each side of the square drive for the ball on the drive tool to engage. Current sockets lost the detents and are using something similar to that double notch thing Craftsman went to.
I do like Dewalt's current 72 tooth pear head ratchets though. They have nice balance and a crisp ratcheting action. The handle is pretty comfortable too.
Aside from those issues which you might not care about, it's not a bad set.
Update: I see that Amazon Prime want $119.98 for what appears to be the same set.

I don't have any of their sockets or ratchets, but I can definitely vouch for the wrenches. For the money, they are excellent. Nice, long, and well polished. As others have mentioned, Stanley seems to have phased out the ASD open end on the Dewalt wrenches and put it on the new made in Taiwan Stanley Craftsman wrenches. The effectiveness of the ASD open end is questionable, so it's not a big deal either way.
