I'm crossing my fingers that the deal dies before I go home. That way, I won't spend an hour trying to find space for one of these before my wife figures out what I'm doing and crushes my plan. Plus I need to save $$$ for a new camera...

I don't need one of these, but I've been aching to review it.

Disappointed if I do, broke if I don't. :lol_hitti

It's a great portable saw. I've had one for about a year and it has been very good to me. Nice and light so I can store it in the basement and bring it up into the garage when I need to use it. I also got the nicer DW7440RS stand, which is like a small version of the Dewalt miter saw stand.

Bought a reconditioned one for $260 a few years ago.. Worked and looked like new.

I store mine hung on the wall on a couple of those rubber covered hooks.

Does is have the riving blades?

I've seen alternate photos for the Dewalt and a Bosch saw, suggesting that they keep updating the same saw slightly rather than give them entirely different model numbers. I've wondered if older saws could be refit with the newer safety guards and such.

Yes it did come with a single riving knife. As well as a couple serrated "blades" that ride on top of the piece you're cutting (anti kickback pawls I guess is the technical term for them). If the piece kicks back, these blades dig into it to keep it from moving.

Found a couple pics of my saw that I took just after I received it (and making a test cut):

I looked up the original eBay sale, and I paid $214 shipped after 30% Bing cashback. :) Seller was Toolking.

Came with 1 year warranty.

Considering the refurb from Toolking is $310 shipped, $312 for a brand spanking new unit shipped free (and no sales tax for most) is a good deal.

i wanted one of those in the worst way. i mean bad! i went to a store and talked to a sales man and he said are you sure? he left me to look at saws and i went from one to the next to the next. i kept coming back to the dw 744x. it is not much bigger, has a much larger capacity, is only 12 lbs. heavier and will rip to 24 inches to handkle 4x8's. if you factor in the cost of purchasing the base for a 745 it is much cheaper. it can also be purchased as a package with the 7440 stand if you crave a nicer stand. i love mine. just my .02$.

I'm looking for a circular saw blade (for cutting wood) for my Jap Makita saw , the only brands at the hardware store were Irwin , Stanley and Ozito which are all Made in China.

Is there a non Chinese made circular saw blade out there?

Any Freud blade, including the Diablo, is a great choice for your saw. I use the Diablo 24 tooth carbide blade.

I got mine for about $15 from HD last year, now Amazon has them for $10.

Freud D0724X Diablo 7-1/4-Inch 24 Tooth ATB Carbide Blade $9.97

This Dewalt was on my list too when I purchased a table saw a year or two ago. However I found a Bosch 4100 at Tyler tool for $399 w/ free shipping. I went with the Bosch 4100 and am glad I did. Just look / study the Bosch 4100 blade guard, riving knife and anti kick back pawls against the Dewalt before buying your saw.

For job site saws, I've only used the Bosch for about $500 and it was a nice. The older Ridgid's got some good reviews on the Ridgid tool forum.

I have the same saw and purchased the portable stand for it as well... The saw helped me build my garage and I've had no problems with it at all. Highly recommended!

Yes. =)

I had a sprinker inspection done a few weeks ago, and one of the older gents was like "holy cow, what goes on in here?!" He then said something about not wanting to leave yet. His eyes were wide open, when he left his partner must have thought he'd seen a ghost or something!
