I bought the 8 1/4 with stand ($400) rather than the 10" saw ($550) awhile back as it was cheaper, and thought it would work. Turns out I need the 10", so I looked them up. For some strange reason the 8 1/4 is now $558 +, and the 10" is still $550. There's two used 8 1/4" saws on craigslist with asking prices of +/- $500. Can't figure it out...

Used prices went mad during covid when there was no supply, chancers are still asking them, but as far as I can tell, nothing is selling.

That's ludacris money, pre COVID $500+ was nice used cabinet saw money
and
DeWalt was selling the 10" model for $200ish

Story is some TS mandate went into effect axing a few of the smaller job site styles, specifically Dewalts

I would be looking at others out there with the rack n pinon and similar options

iirc Kobalt, Hercules, and Skil all make a very competitive jobsite TS

Osha effectively banned 10" jobsite saws under a certain table size. Which is why the dw745 and the follow on 7480 are discontinued.

That really depends on the area. Around here $500 buys you 70 year old Unisaw, missing parts and no fence. A project. A nice Unisaw around here is $1,500 and up. About a year ago I looked at a very nice Unisaw that the guy was asking $2,500. I notice he dropped the price to $2,300 and a couple days later it was gone, so I suspect he got around $2,000 for it.

I bought a mid '90's Unisaw with the longer (52"?) fence for $900 out by Denver. The guy told me had had advertised it for a month and had calls, but no lookers. I just about hurt myself rushing out there to look at it. I never argued about the price, just tossed him the cash. Now I have it cleaned up and an outfeed table I know if I wanted to sell it I could get $2,000

Damn, I would sell my unisaw for $900 anytime. You would think there would be a million dewalts for sale if they are no longer good for jobsites.

The DW745 is awesome though...it's sad they discontinued them. Sure the little 8" things can rip plywood, but I have done 2x material more than I can count in my DW745 including vertical rips on the 3.5" dimension, takes two passes, but it does it.

I doubt most people even know about it and nobody is going to give up their better table saw, at worst they'd go into home use.

Like I said, I paid $900 for mine in the Denver area. The seller told me I was the first to take a look at it. I looked at Unisaws in my area that were twice the price for a similar saw. Aparantly the Denver market is a bit saturated.

Why did OSHA ban small tablesaws?
The larger a piece of wood is compared to the tablesaw top, the more likely that piece of wood is to twist or get pushed thru the blade at the wrong angle, or to twist while being pushed thru the blade, which increases the risk of kickback, or the chances of someone getting their hand pulled into the blade.
At least this would be my guess.

This is true.

Some... ok most of the little job saws can get really sketchy... even dangerous the bigger the sheet gets. Often it's a 2 person gig with someone supporting outfeed.

Couple that with the fact that 95% of the time these things aren't actually bolted down... just sitting loose on a tailgate or driveway..? Super sketchy.

Not that you know... I'd actually ever do or have done something like that... no no!

My brother has one of those Ryobi table saws that are probably banned by OSHA. I don't have the exact blade size memorized but it kinda deserves to be banned anyway.

I had heard about the osha thing but couldn't find any regulations on table size when searching yesterday. Anyone have a reference?

Outside of that, I've had a 7491rs for several years and it's been a great saw
